Artie is the gallery owner of Monte d'Or's Montsarton Gallery in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. He is a fond lover of pizza and often gives Professor Layton and the others pizza related puzzles.
Artie wears a green suit over a white shirt and red tie. He also wears green pants and brown shoes, and has blue hair.
Artie gives you the following puzzles throughout the game Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask:
Chapter 3: The Battle of Monte d'Or
Professor Layton and the group approach Artie to ask him questions about the Masked Gentleman's latest miracle, and Artie first thanks them for allowing the gallery to be re-opened, and introduces himself. He then tells them he hadn't seen what happened with the incident of the people jumping out of paintings, but would be sure to inspect any anonymous donations in the future. According to him, if it weren't for Layton or Henry Ledore, the gallery would not have been re-opened; Henry donated a large collection of artworks to the museum, that some of them had to be stored away. Artie suggests the group talks to Madame Lapushka once again, as she knew everything about everyone.
In a special episode, Artie catches Hanna, who seemed to be searching for the Masked Gentleman. He compared her speed and finesse to a rumored lady spy, who had appeared when the detectives from Scotland Yard were sent to Monte d'Or, but she denies it is her; however, she doesn't realize he is indeed talking about her. The lady spy is said to appear at every crime scene before the officers, and chases the Masked Gentleman on rooftops, trying to lose her. Hanna wishes to speak to this lady spy, if only to help gather information for Inspector Grosky.
Chapter 5: Miracles Unmasked
Upon entering the Montsarton Gallery, Luke can smell something strange in the gallery, to find Artie was eating his pizza in there. Professor Layton asked if this way okay to do, but Artie says he was merely creating a work of art for the nose, as well as the eyes. He also says that the gallery was quiet not because of the smell of the cheese, but because it had just re-opened, and even thought of giving visitors free pizza.
Chapter 7: The Reunion Inn
Artie is continuing to appreciate the fine arts while eating his pizza in the Montsarton Gallery. Luke asks if he ever touches the paintings with his greasy fingers, but assures him that paintings should never be touched. Luke wondered why he was allowed to eat in the gallery, and Professor Layton says that the recent events probably wasn't the only reason the gallery was empty.
"Montsarton Gallery's curator has almost as much love for pizza as he does for fine art. In fact, Artie's so fond of his formaggios that he insist on eating while patrolling the halls. The gallery's visitors appreciate the art, but they aren't so fond of the aroma!"
