The area consists of a large array of stalls, all selling different types of popoños, including dolls. A river runs down the market, with more souvenirs contained in boats. Houses can be seen on the hill in the distance, as well as the lighthouse on top of the hill. A drawbridge located above the river leads into Bud's Bar & Grill.
Chapter 4: The Hunt for the Eggs
Professor Layton and the group make their way into the market in hopes of finding the Aura Stone, however they are greeted to the sight of a market full of souvenirs bearing a resemblance to the egg, making it difficult for them to distinguish the real one from the fakes. To get some insight on the origins of these popoños, they speak to Martine, however since she had only recently become a citizen of the town, she instead directs them to Miranda on the Beachside Walkway, as her family had lived in the town for a long time.
Upon exiting the Bar & Grill, the group spot Macaw and Robin, who were sent to San Grio to search for the egg. Robin warns Layton that they would not be able to catch them after they find the egg, before running off once again. Knowing it was imperative they find the egg first, they continue searching the island for it.
After making inquiries around the island, the group gather back at the market, going over the information they received. They slowly figure out the patterns of the passing of the popoño, and deduce that the passing of the egg follows one of two rules; the current holder must pass it on to someone of opposite marital status or opposite gender. With the rules and accounts they received in mind, the group discover that Bud was in possession of the popoño, and decide to pay him a visit.
