The interior of the Great Archive contains all the Stories written by the Storyteller, and is one large hall. The special viewing room can be seen at the back of the library on the top level.

The interior contains built-in bookshelves lined along the wall, all filled with books. There are statues placed at the entrance, with a purple rug leading to Ridelle Mystere's desk. Two flights of stairs lead up to the second level.

The special viewing room is contained at the back of the library, holding the Grand Grimoire. Only those who obtain permission from the library's curator, Ridelle Mystere are able to access this room. The Great Archive's Cellar is a room hidden beneath the library, which was left undiscovered until Professor Layton deciphered the puzzle written in the Grand Grimoire. It houses a mural depicting the Legendary Fire that had destroyed the town.

The room contains a large mural across the back wall, with a stone engraving appearing before it. The room appears to date back to ancient times.

[edit] Plot

Chapter 1: Mysterious Labyrinthia
Professor Layton, Luke and Espella Cantabella visit the Great Archive to search the answers of what Carmine Accidenti was looking for, and to see the Grand Grimoire. Upon entering, they are greeted by Dewey, who directs them towards Ridelle Mystere to request the tome, however she denies them permission of viewing the book upon their request. In a bid to prove his intellect, Layton solves two puzzles thrown at him by Mystere, and so she grants them access to view the Grand Grimoire. Upon opening the book, they find a written note:

"From a long time ago,

The ancient flame has been locked,
In an infinite vault of books.

Waiting for the awakening,

When the sun and moon,
Watching over the sage,
Swap places to show their true form,

The door to the past will open.

Once a person of perspicacity
has fulfilled the challenge,

The door will be open.

Until then I will wait,
For the time of the awakening."

Deciphering the riddle, Layton finds a puzzle above Mystere's desk, revealing a secret passage under the library. There lay a large mural depicting the Legendary Fire from hundreds of years ago, to which Espella reacts strangely to it.
