This is the thirty-second puzzle you'll encounter in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. To access this puzzle, you must talk to the policeman. In order to solve this puzzle, you must figure out how many times the policeman shot each point section.

Contents

[edit] Hints

Hint One
He made 100 points in five shots.

Let's imagine he hit the 75-point section once. That leaves 25 points to make up. He could get 25 points if he hit the 5-point section five times, but that would be a total of six shots, so that's not the answer.

Try some other combination of shots.

Hint Two
You've probably realized that it takes more than five shots at the target to reach a combined score of 100 points.

Hmm... Is there a way to score a number of points other than by hitting the target?

Hint Three
Just because the officer fired five shots doesn't mean they all hit the target.

In other words, it's possible for him to score 0 points with any given shot.

Do you see the answer now?

Super Hint
If a shot were to miss the target, the officer would score 0 points.

Can you use that to make a total of 100 points out of five shots?

Maybe the officer is just a lucky shot!

Too bad.

Are you perhaps off the mark a little?

Bull's-eye!

He hit the 100-point section once.

He's either a hotshot...or a not shot.

[edit] Solution

The policeman only hit the 100-point section once.
