Chapter 4: The Hunt for the Eggs
Professor Layton and the group arrive in Mosinnia, hopeful that the Aura Stone located here would not be difficult to find. They find the streets deserted however, thinking everyone may be indoors. They decide to continue through the town.

The group return after hearing voices coming from the area, to see a young boy named Umid asking the Targent crooks Macaw and Robin for help. They demand the boy that he cooperate with them in telling them where the egg may be, until they run off once again. Layton and Professor Sycamore then decide to offer their assistance to Umid, as he explains in a panic that all the adults in town had been sleeping for a week, including his mother. He then invites the group to his home to figure out a way of waking the adults in town.

While in the middle of solving the puzzle to awaken the phoenix, the group deduce that the city gate was their next destination to visit after the temple. They soon locate a plaque on one of the walls, which had been activated by one of the Azran mechanisms. Aurora then begins reciting the plaque, reading:

"From its ashes of birth, the reborn bird takes flight from the pinnacle of time and seeks respite westwards."
"Beyond lie six immovable mountains. The phoenix settles on the second peak, before crossing another on her way to paradise."
"The mountains she touches are resplendent with eternal light. When all is true, the bird shall open her heart."

With this riddle in mind, Layton deduces that the "pinnacle of time" was referring to the clock tower, while the "immovable mountains" refers to the stone slabs lying across the beam above them. Once solving the puzzle involving the stone slabs, the group hear a rumbling sound coming from Phoenix Square, where they head to immediately.
