The path leading towards the temple is lined with stone tablets, looking like gravestones at first glance. Stained-glass windows decorate the walls of the temple, and a large Azran mural is displayed above the entrance. A large stained-glass window depicting a phoenix can be seen inside the temple.

Chapter 4: The Hunt for the Eggs
Professor Layton and the group reach the temple in the hope of finding clues connected to the legend of the phoenix. Professor Sycamore notices a part of the wall is made of Azran stone, but is not immediately able to decipher the glyphs on the wall. Looking among the tablets inserted in the ground, the group soon notice one different from the others, with writing etched in it similar to that in the Azran Dome. Aurora begins reading it out:

"The phoenix grants guidance only to the chosen few, those who bear the celestial burden and complete the perpetual cycle."
"Igneous bird born of dawn's west rays, cast your flaming wings over noon skies till your journey ends under an eastern moon."
"Those who complete the cycle, find your way to the entrance of the phoenix's protection."

Figuring this was a riddle in order to awaken the phoenix, the group make a connection between it and the large mural on the temple's wall, as it represents the circle of life. After solving the mural riddle, they hear a tremor in the distance. They soon head for the main gate, figuring this is what the "entrance of the phoenix's protection" was in reference to.

The group return to the temple after being notified that the city's elder, Dana, wished to see them. A legend that had been passed down for generations stated that once the celestial messenger had descended, the phoenix egg must be returned to her. Believing Aurora to be that messenger, she hands the Aura Stone to her.
