Chapter 2: The Secret of Norwell
During one of his classes, Mr. Collins talks to his students about Donald Rutledge's famous work, "Ancient Histories". He had discovered the Azran Civilization, although the surface was barely scratched about their existence. He then tells the class that Rutledge's most famous discovery was the Pyllnoth, which was assumed to be a holy site, however intricate artifacts disproved that. A biologist by the name of Doris Pompitous theorized the Azrans were scientifically advanced and had a language as evolved as their own, and that Earth once had a completely different ecosystem.
After he gets Randall Ascot to solve a puzzle, he turns to discussing how the Azrans had built many ancient edifices in England, most of which were lost in the passage of history. Randall then interrupts his speech to ask if he thought the Mask Of Chaos existed. He tells him such a treasure would be impossible to find, and to stop asking him irrelevant questions, and gets him to solve another problem. After this, he dismisses his class.
On the way to Randall's house, Hershel is spotted by Mr. Collins loitering at the school gate, and asks him if he had finished the short essay given to him. Since he almost had finished, he gives him a puzzle which he would find easy, and afterwards told him not to stay out too late as to not worry his mother.
"Mr. Collins may have a near encyclopedic knowledge of ancient history backed up by a series of expeditions in his youth, but his students tend to consider him unbearably dull. Though somewhat grumpy, he really does care for his pupils."
