Tom's appearance is almost child-like, showing a strong bond between Babette and Tom. He wears 4 small sized boots and a cap that is red, white and blue.
Mid-way during their journey on the Molentary Express, Professor Layton and Luke hear talk about a young child going missing on the train. Distraught, Babette urges Inspector Chelmey, Professor Layton and Luke to find him as soon as possible. First, Professor Layton discovers a lone, left shoe in one of the cabins, he believes this shoe is far too small to be that of a toddler who can walk. Then, Luke finds a cap in Macaroon's kitchen. The gap that the cap was found through was far too narrow for a child to fit through. They then find a further left shoe in another of the cabins. This causes the duo to think outside the box and they solve Who Is Tom Really?. Babette, Tom's Owner, calls him 'baby' which tricked Professor Layton, Inspector Chelmey and Luke Triton into thinking he was a child, when really he is a dog.
"This petite canine is the beloved pet of Babette. Raised in the lap of luxury, Tom often gets up to mischief, causing trouble for those around him. Despite being the apple of Babette's eye, he doesn't seem very fond of her."
