Chapter 4: The Hunt for the Eggs
Umid invites Professor Layton and the group to his home, to show them to his mother who had been asleep for the past week. He was not sure how she came to be in this state, however Professor Sycamore deduces that she wasn't in any danger. Umid then remembers an old Mosinnian legend, about a phoenix with healing powers swooping down to the city and making it her home. She would then slumber for years, and once waking up, tears would stream from her eyes. The people in the city would then collect these tears, as they had the power to heal any illness. The group then agree to help Umid search for this phoenix, in exchange for any information about the city.

The group return to Umid's house to give his mother the concoction, and as she comes to, he tells her that she had been asleep for a week. Knowing the reasoning for this, she reveals that after the phoenix festival, the adults attended an after-party and ate a wild mushroom stew. A toxic mushroom was accidentally mixed into the stew, sending those who consumed it to sleep. Mehri then visits, looking for the group, telling Professor Sycamore that her grandmother wished to see them to give them a phoenix egg.
